Although these experts are not\u00a0one hundred percent happy\u00a0with\u00a0the final result \u00a0&#8211; to their taste <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mindful.org\/does-inside-out-get-sadness-wrong\/\" target=\"_blank\">sadness\u00a0is\u00a0portrayed too negatively<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; the film does give a good idea of what function emotions have, and how they can help you flourish.<\/p>\n<h3>The 4\u00a0most important things you can learn from Disney&#8217;s latest gem (and how scientific research supports this):<\/h3>\n<h4>1. Happiness is not just about fun<\/h4>\n<p>Recent research shows that people who experience &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hbs.edu\/faculty\/Publication%20Files\/quoidbach%20et%20al%202014_9105d828-db78-49eb-b434-23f53cdba042.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">emodiversity<\/a>&#8216; &#8211; ie a range of both positive and negative emotions &#8211; are mentally healthier than people who solely focus on positive or negative experiences. If you feel a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.power2improve.com\/methoden-en-hulpmiddelen\/positieve-psychologie\/\" target=\"_blank\">variety of emotions<\/a>, the picture you form\u00a0of the situation will be more complete. Emodiversity\u00a0creates\u00a0better behavioral choices &#8211; and potentially a greater sense of happiness. This probably explains why the character for this emotion in the movie \u00a0is called\u00a0&#8216;Joy&#8217;, instead of &#8216;Happiness&#8217;. Joy\u00a0is just one element of happiness, which can be affected by other emotions.
