Because there is still a lot of shame among people who fall out, initiator and Social Affairs Minister Lodewijk Asscher knows. Do you feel emotionally drained by your job? Or are you already tired when getting up? Then read on\u00a0and\u00a0learn how you can best raise the topic at\u00a0work.<\/h3>\n<p>Asscher has been worried about the\u00a0increasing stress in the Netherlands for quite some\u00a0time now. And for good reason. Stress in the workplace is the country&#8217;s number 1 occupational disease. Each year more than a million people are at risk of burn-out and other work-related mental illnesses. One in seven workers even has been struggling with serious stress complaints, the Dutch central statistics office CBS and research institute\u00a0TNO report.\u00a0Irritability, poor sleep and tension headaches, for example. Especially young people aged from 25 to 35 years are at increased risk of becoming overstrained.<\/p>\n<h3>Causes<\/h3>\n<p>There are many circumstances that can lead to stress. Employees who manage their work schedule themselves, experience less pressure.<\/div><\/li><li class=\"fusion-li-item\" style=\"\"><span class=\"icon-wrapper circle-yes\"><i class=\"fusion-li-icon fa fa-check\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><div class=\"fusion-li-item-content\">Too high job demands. Nearly four in ten workers are complaining about this.<\/div><\/li> <li class=\"fusion-li-item\" style=\"\"><span class=\"icon-wrapper circle-yes\"><i class=\"fusion-li-icon fa fa-check\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><div class=\"fusion-li-item-content\">Concerns about changing conditions in the labor market, such as the increase of flexible labor and flexible contracts.<\/div><\/li><\/ul> Other causes of stress are: <div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-2 fusion_builder_column_1_1 1_1 fusion-one-full fusion-column-first fusion-column-last fusion-column-no-min-height\" style=\"--awb-bg-size:cover;--awb-margin-bottom:0px;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-column-wrapper-legacy\"><ul style=\"--awb-size:13px;--awb-line-height:22.1px;--awb-icon-width:22.1px;--awb-icon-height:22.1px;--awb-icon-margin:9.1px;--awb-content-margin:31.2px;--awb-circlecolor:#2D8A2C;--awb-circle-yes-font-size:11.44px;\" class=\"fusion-checklist fusion-checklist-2 fusion-checklist-default type-icons\"> <li class=\"fusion-li-item\" style=\"\"><span class=\"icon-wrapper circle-yes\"><i class=\"fusion-li-icon fa fa-check\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><div class=\"fusion-li-item-content\"> Overload or rather underload of body and mind<\/div><\/li> <li class=\"fusion-li-item\" style=\"\"><span class=\"icon-wrapper circle-yes\"><i class=\"fusion-li-icon fa fa-check\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><div class=\"fusion-li-item-content\">Bullying<\/div><\/li> <\/ul>\n<h3>From work stress to job satisfaction<\/h3>\n<p>One way to deal with stress is to ensure that you get\u00a0enjoyment while\u00a0you work.\u00a0You can do that by bringing your tasks\u00a0in line with your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.power2improve.com\/en\/people\/the-qualities-that-make-you-strong-and-lead-to-success\/\">energy givers<\/a>\u00a0(or strength creators), your higher purpose and your personal values. If you do what gives you energy, you will\u00a0oftentimes do a mountain\u00a0of work, without even noticing it. While if you perform\u00a0tasks that cost you energy, you will sparsely make any progress, and be very tired and frustrated.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you do things that give you energy or not, not only impacts your job satisfaction level, but also your productivity. Severely. Something that undoubtedly has your manager&#8217;s interest. Did you know that if you focus on your areas for improvement (something most people do not like) your performance will decrease by an average of 27 percent? Not too much, but certainly not\u00a0too little either. In his TED Talk the American\/Hungarian psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi explains how this works .<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe src=\"https:\/\/embed-ssl.ted.com\/talks\/lang\/nl\/mihaly_csikszentmihalyi_on_flow.html\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<h3>Get sufficient\u00a0rest<\/h3>\n<p>While Flow moments are very important, adequate rest is at least as crucial. Both receiving, as giving them. Do not forget to give yourself a pat on the back on a regular basis as well. Because being empathic and kind to yourself, giving yourself recognition for your efforts, your accomplishments and what you have learned, is also a way to get into Flow, and away from stress.<\/p>\n<h3>And now in practice<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">Do you experience stress and will you soon have a one-on-one conversation or a year-end interview with your supervisor? Try to address the above-mentioned issues. The way you can best do that, is one that is not offensive, nor defensive, but connective, and thus the most promising. Say &#8216;I&#8217; and &#8216;me&#8217; in stead of\u00a0&#8216;you&#8217;, &#8216;one&#8217; or &#8216;people&#8217; when you mean yourself.<\/div><\/li> <li class=\"fusion-li-item\" style=\"\"><span class=\"icon-wrapper circle-yes\"><i class=\"fusion-li-icon fa fa-check\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><div class=\"fusion-li-item-content\">Identify what you are perceiving and what is going on inside you.
