Generally speaking, college students don’t have access to good skills education. The 800 to 1,000 incoming freshmen of the Faculty of Economics at Tilburg University, Tilburg School of Economics and Management, however, will develop their skills in as many as three courses in the first semester of their academic career: Information Skills, Writing Skills and Presentation Skills. Faculty management sought help from Power2Improve, a specialist in the field of consulting, coaching, training and educational innovation. We will develop, and execute these courses. In a Studentimized Blended Learning way. Both for the international (English) and the Dutch Bachelor Programs.

Optimal combination of online and offline learning

Our unique Studentimized Blended Learning method ensures the optimal combination of online and offline learning for the individual participant/student. This means that our workshops, training and coaching are tailored to his/her:

  • level of prior knowledge and skill,
  • learning style,
  • learning preferences,
  • learning needs, ánd
  • application context.

More motivated students, and better academic results at an affordable price

This proven approach, based on over 30 years of international training, coaching and teaching, leads to more motivated students, better, sustainable academic results at affordable prices from certified trainers.

The Tilburg freshmen, in 6 different Bachelor Programs, will take part in both online helped DIY training and offline tailored on-campus workshops. They only need to study topics that need further improvement of either knowledge or skills. Topics they have already mastered, they can skip. Hence, every module starts with a personal intake and/or test.

The program also facilitates peer and meta-learning, while minimizing free riding and waiting times for students. As it is a starting point of their academic career an important side goal is to boost self regulated learning.

On top of all this the program is designed around a smart self learning automated system. Students get signals to facilitate their learning, based on their behavior. On top of that they also get concrete tips based on (effective learning) behavior from similar students.
